Wilderness Survival Tips
Wilderness survival is difficult, because the wilderness is an unforgiving place. It's a wild, dangerous place, for those who lack survival knowledge and go outdoors to hike, hunt, fish, and camp. Primitive technology and survival skills are needed in the event of any emergency. We all want to come back alive, but unless you understand nature and how to make a shelter, build a fire, forage for food, and apply first aid, you could very well die in an emergency.
Food is not really a concern, but it's usually the first question I'm asked. Depending on weather conditions, water should be your first concern (unless the temperature is very hot or cold - then shelter first). Then, shelter, fire, foraging, and the list goes on. Wilderness survival can be difficult and living outdoors is not like living in your home. You must understand nature, what is provided and what is not. Most items you need can be found in the wild, if you foraging for it. We're lucky and unless you live in the Southwest, water is all around us, and water is important for survival. Primitive technology is an art, but it's an art that can be learned. Survival should be simple and you can survive if you keep your head and think.

Addition Survival Information
Survival in the wilds of the United States is not impossible and most folks are found within 48 hours of being reported as lost. However, returning alive may be difficult unless you have developed wilderness survival skills or primitive technology skills. This site is for those who hike, camp, fish, hunt, or simply drive on back roads, because all must know how to find water, make a fire, construct a shelter, find food, and apply basic first aid. Natural disasters and terrorist attacks make knowing how to survive more important today than it ever was in the past.
As a minimum, know how to start a fire without matches. A metal match makes it a snap!
Some of the camping gear you use can be used in your survival kits, but outdoor survival takes a different attitude than just camping. This survival guide is much more than just a survival book, because there is also a chapter in it on survival psychology. It's easy reading and make the perfect gift for your special young man, woman, or child.
